Characters I’d Love To Cosplay As | Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme, GoodReads group here with all the topics + discussion!
This week’s topic is: Characters I’d Cosplay As

I am finally back with another T5W post, I skipped the last two weeks as I couldn’t think of anything for the topics. However, this week I absolutely had to do this topic, especially as it is Halloween!

5) Blue Sargent – The Raven CycleImage result for blue sargentArt source

The way Blue’s style is described is just cool and quirky, I love her individualism.
Also, the fanart of her! The artists really capture how I imagine Blue’s quirkiness and style.  I just want her outfits.

4) Daenerys Targaryen – GoT/ASOIAF

In both the books and show Daenerys has amazing clothes and I just want to pretend to be her for a second, okay? I want fancy dresses and dragons.

3) Feyre – ACOTAR

Feyre clearly has an amazing wardrobe. I need it.
From the Starfall dress to the Illyrian wings, I would love the rock a Feyre cosplay.

2) Elektra – Daredevil (TV show)

I just love this character, she’s one of my favourites from the show. Her comic book outfit is cool too but I fell in love with the character on the show. She’s such a lovable sociopathic, badass woman. I live for it.

1) Princess Leia Organa

Of course, I’d love to cosplay as my favourite character ever. Other than the fact I’d love to be Princess Leia, her outfits are amazing. She’s iconic. Need I say more?

Favourite Magic Systems | Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme, GoodReads group here with all the topics + discussion!
This week’s topic is: Favourite Magic Systems

1) Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Allomancy is the magic system feature in Mistborn, Allomancers have the ability to consume metals and gain abilities from different metals. Mistborns can consume all metals, whereas, Mistings can only consume one type. The Magic system is really cool and there are other types in there too, they’re really well explained and easy to follow!

2) Lightbringer by Brent WeeksImage result for lightbringer brent weeks covers
The magic system in this universe is Drafting, it uses the spectrum of light to draw luxin, different colours to different things. Most drafters can draft one or two colours but the Prism can draft all colours. There is a catch – the more you use your power the quicker you die. It’s such an interesting magic system, great series and so underrated!

3) Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson

Another Brandon Sanderson magic system (his systems are honestly the best ever). In Warbreaker, the system is known as Breaths, everyone is born with one breath, however, you can buy more but it has to be given willingly – you cannot steal it. The more breath you have the better and more vivid everyone appears, breath can also be temporarily put into inanimate objects, making them come to life.

4) Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

This one is a little hard to explain but basically, reincarnation is the ‘magic’ of the chimaera but also there’s a running theme that magic comes at a cost.

5) Star Wars
Obviously, I had the mention the Force. I feel like everyone knows the Force, so no need to explain too much and if you don’t… who even are you!?
I love the spectrum of the Force, the good, the bad and the balance. Plus, if having the Force is needed for owning a Lightsaber, I want in.

Classics I Wish Had Modern Adaptations | Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme, GoodReads group here with all the topics + discussion!
This weeks topic is; Classics I Wish Had Modern Adaptations

This was a bit of a tricky subject for me! It took me a while to think of some to include, I am not the biggest classic reader and tend to dislike the ones I have read.

1) 1984 by George Orwell

Not going to lie, I didn’t like 1984 at all. The themes and the underlying message are important but Orwell’s writing is an actual snoozefest. SO BORING. I will never reread 1984, I only read it for college and I didn’t expect to be so dull. I think the story would work so much better in a film, I know there is an older film but it would be nice to see a modern take on it.

2) The Chronicles of NarniaImage result for complete chronicles of narnia
Obviously, there is a modern adaptation of Narnia, however, there is only 3. Unpopular opinion: I love the Narnia films. I wish they’d continued to make them. I want more! Would definitely love to see more modern stories of it!

3) Jane Eyre

Okay, so I absolutely love the 2011 adaptation with Michael Fassbender as Mr Rochester (swoon), but they did cut out a lot of the book. I think it would’ve worked even better as a mini-series like the BBC did with Pride and Prejudice (1995).

4) The Secret Garden

I haven’t read this, yet but I plan to. I absolutely adored the 1993 film as a kid, it was one of my favourites I would rewatch over and over. I would love to see a modern remake of it, they seem to be remaking every classic at the moment, so why not The Secret Garden!?

5) His Dark Materials
This is more of a modern classic but it is one of my favourites. The 2007 film The Golden Compass is the worst adaptation, it does the books no justice at all. Thankfully, my wish has been granted and the BBC are making a TV show. I am praying it goes right this time and does the amazing books justice!
