The Three Ws are:

What do you think you’ll read next?

Recently Finished:
Nothing.
I read a lot in Feb, so I kinda had a break? I had done a lot of reading for uni, I didn’t really feel like reading and didn’t want to force myself and end up in a slump.

Currently Reading:

The Book of Phoenix by Nnedi Okorafor

The Book of Phoenix eBook: Okorafor, Nnedi: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store

This has been sat on my shelf for a long while, I’ve been wanting to read it for ages. Now, I’m reading it for uni. I’m excited to finally pick this up and now I get to study it too!

*Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley

52346471

I sent a physical arc by the publisher and given an audio arc by Libro.fm… so I should probably get a move on with this. I hope to read and review it before release day, which is March 16th (US and kindle UK) and April 1st (UK hardback).

Parable of the Sower: A powerful tale of a dark and dystopian future - The Rocketship Bookshop

This was another book for uni, seems to be the only reading I do lately…
It was a good read, very interesting and terrifying. Hits a little too close to home. Definitely worth reading if you’re into Dytopian.

Currently Reading:

Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer (audiobook)

Instant Karma Audiobook | Marissa Meyer | Audible.co.uk

I’m really enjoying this audiobook. I’ve seen mixed things about this, so I was hesitant to read. So far it’s cute and easy to listen to! It’s kinda enemies to lovers with a hint of magic. It’s pretty cool.
I don’t have much left and will probably finish this today!

So I had to read this for uni, it’s not something I’d ever heard of before nor knew anything about. WOW this book was weird. Possibly the weirdest book I’ve ever read. I had no idea what the hell was happening 90% of the time. I’ll be interested in the thoughts of my classmates and discussing it! There’s definitely a lot to pick apart.
It’s a dystopian novel, following a reallllly creepy dude, it’s just so odd.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (reread)

Image result for jane eyre by charlotte bronte vintage classic

Another book for uni. I have previously read this, around 3 years ago. It’s one of my favourite classics, so rereading it was fun! I’m excited to study it in the context of postcolonial theory.

Currently Reading:

The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood

Image result for The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood

Another uni book… All I do is read for uni lately…
I’ve previously read Atwood (The Handmaid’s Tale and The Testaments). I’m excited to study her and see how this book compares to those. It’s a bit odd so far… another odd dystopian novel!

Finally, I am reading for fun!
I have this audiobook on loan from my library. I don’t have much time left, so I need to hurry up with this one! I love Marissa Meyer’s The Lunar Chronicles, I’m excited to read a contemporary romance by her! I heard mixed things about this, hopefully, I’ll enjoy it!

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

This is a super creepy kid’s book… I was expecting a little creepiness but this was so much creepier than I expected! This would’ve scarred me as a child, I’m glad I didn’t read it back then. I love that the audiobook was narrated by Neil himself, it was great! He has a lovely voice.

This was my last book for uni of this semester! I am so relieved.

I have both the physical copy and the audiobook. So I will definitely be picking this up before it expires at my library!

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

Listen Free to Coraline by Neil Gaiman with a Free Trial.

This audiobook is also available at my library. It’s very short (under 4 hours), so I’m sure I’ll devour this one soon. I have been on a Neil Gaiman hype lately, I listened to two of his audiobooks last month. I had forgotten how much I enjoy his writing! I’m looking forward to listening to this as he reads it himself, he’s such a great narrator.
I’ll probably have to watch the film after reading it… I’ve never watched it!

What are you reading?
Any thoughts on the books I mentioned?

I have been trying to get into poetry and thought this would be interesting as it used to be hugely popular.

Regardless, I don’t rate it.
Sorry not sorry.

Happy Wednesday!

It’s been a minute since I did one of these posts. I missed doing them!
This year has been such a slump for me in terms of reading. I’ve been in a slump basically all year. I’m now focusing on shorter, easier books in the hopes it’ll get me out of it!

Between The World And Me: Amazon.co.uk: Ta-Nehisi Coates: 9781925240702: Books

This is a book I have to read for a module on race in contemporary America. It’s really interesting so far. I’m looking forward to studying this! I’ll be reading a lot of African American literature and watching films/documentaries too, which I’ll definitely be talking about in future posts!

Chivalry by Neil Gaiman

Chivalry

Apparently I’m on a Neil Gaiman binge?! I was looking for short audiobooks to listen to and his just happen to be very short (and really good!) I love his writing, I had forgotten how much I enjoy his stuff. It has been a while since I’d pick up any Gaiman. I definitely need to keep picking up his books.
If you’re looking for someone short and sweet, definitely give these a go!

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

Milk and Honey - Audiobook & E book - Rupi Kaur - Storytel

The audiobook of this just became available for me at my library.
I’m not into poetry, but I have been trying to read more of it in the hopes of actually enjoying it…
I’ve heard A LOT about this one and it used to be really popular. I don’t know if I’ll like it but it’s super short and worth a go.

Keeping with the short book theme, I want to read
To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers

43702513. sy475

I’ve never read any Becky Chambers.
I’ve always wanted to read her other series but with my reading slump and uni, I don’t have time to commit to a starting a new series right now. So, I thought this would be a great place to start! I believe this is a standalone novella. It’s less than 200 pages and it’s sci-fi. I’m super excited to get to this one!

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

Waiting on Wednesday: AN ENCHANTMENT OR RAVENS by Margaret ...

I decided to pick this up as it’s fairly short and I have it on Kindle, which for some reason makes it easier to read when I’m in a slump… Yeah, I have no explanation. Ebooks are faster to read for me. I’m currently only a few chapters in but I’m intrigued! I love Fae, they’re my favourite fantasy race to read about. Hopefully, I’ll enjoy this!

Reading Next

Since I am currently in a slump, I’ll be sticking with easy reads and mainly Kindle and audiobooks.

*All Along You Were Blooming by Morgan Harper Nichols
(audiobook)

*Free copy from Libro.fm

I don’t know much about this or the author, who is an instagram poet, I believe. But, I’ve been trying to get into poetry more and this is pretty short (>2 hours).

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Aurora Rising: The Aurora Cycle 1 - Amie Kaufman and Jay ...

I have this in audiobook and ebook, so I’ll probably switch between the two/ read along with the audiobook and see which format works for me. I’ve heard really mixed things about this book, I’m interested to see where my opinion will fall!
