Today I’m doing an exciting tag! I loveeeeee Folklore by Taylor Swift and combining that with books is just the best thing ever.
Thank you to Mieke from MouseThatReads for tagging me! Make sure you check out her post too!
- Credit the creator of the tag, Cielo @ Bellerose Reads
- Shout out the person who tagged you
- List the rules of the tag in your post.
- Tag at least 5 people to do the tag!
The 1 – A book you wanted to read but never did
“I’m doing good, I’m on some new shit, been saying yes instead of no”
The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick
I bought it and just never read it. It’s sat unread on my kindle.
Cardigan – A character that didn’t end up with their first love interest
“And when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone’s bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite”
Aelin from the Throne of Glass series.
I didn’t actually like who she ended up with. I feel like I’m one of very few people who shipped Aelin and Dorian. They would’ve been such a power couple!
The Last Great American Dynasty – A book with an epic female protagonist
“She had a marvellous time ruining everything“
The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E Pearson
This is a series, so I’m kind of cheating here. Lia from TRC is amazing! She’s such an epic, strong female lead. Her character development is really great. I love that she stands up for everything she believes in.
Exile – A book about walking out of a toxic relationship
“You’re not my homeland anymore. So what am I defending now?”
I’m going to go with the same answer as Mieke and say A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas
My Tears Ricochet – The fictional couple that made you suffer the most
“I didn’t have it in myself to go with grace and you’re the hero flying around, saving face“
My mind went to Blue & Gansey from The Raven Cycle… It takes the whole series for them to get together and there’s loads of cute moments and tension.
Mirrorball – A swoon-worthy, sweet couple
“You’ll find me on my tallest tiptoes, spinning in my highest heels, love, shining just for you”
January & Gus from Beach Read by Emily Henry
My favourite read of 2020 (so far). I loved the relationship between these two, it felt very real. There was plenty of tension and swoon worthy moments. If you like rivals to lovers, check out Beach Read!
Seven – A book with fae characters
“Love you to the Moon and to Saturn“
I wont use a SJM book again, I’ll go with The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
August – A book you’ve read very fast
“And I can see us twisted in bedsheets August sipped away like a bottle of wine”
The Kiss of Deception by Mary E Pearson
When I read this for the first time last year, I read it in an afternoon!
This Is Me Trying – A coming of age book
“It’s hard to be anywhere these days when all I want is you“
The Northern Lights by Philip Pullman
An oldie, but a goodie! The books that got me reading sci-fi/fantasy.
Such a great series!
Illicit Affairs – A book with a forbidden love
“Tell yourself you can always stop what started in beautiful rooms ends with meetings in parking lots”
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
The only instalove I will accept! I loved the romance in this book. I’m definitely due a reread!
Invisible String – A book featuring a road trip
“Time, curious time gave me no compasses, gave me no signs“
I honestly cannot think of one.
Apparently, I need to read something featuring a road trip!
Mad Woman – Your favorite female villain
“Does a scorpion sting when fighting back? They strike to kill, and you know I will“
Marcella from Vengeful by V.E. Schwab
There’s a lack of women villains, I feel. If you have any book recs with good female villains, leave them below!
Epiphany – A book that made everything disappear while you were having a rough time
“With you I serve, with you I fall down, down, watch you breathe in, watch you breathing out, out”
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
I was in a low place mental health wise, reading the Mistborn series really helped me by sucking me into that world entirely. I was full immersed and obsessed!
Betty – A book with second-chance trope
“I’m only seventeen, I don’t know anything but I know I miss you“
I think my current read, In Case You Missed It by Lindsey Kelk, is a second chance romance. (I’ve only just started, don’t quote me!)
Peace – A book with a passionate affair that wasn’t meant to be
“Would it be enough if I could never give you peace?”
I hate to use another SJM but I can think of no other… A Court of Thorns and Roses. I think we all know which relationship wasn’t to be.
Hoax – The saddest book you remember reading
“No other sadness in the world would do“
I don’t read a ton of sad books. I hardly ever cry during books, sometimes I fill up a little. I’m not sure what the saddest book I’ve read is really. I’ll go with The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. The ending to this book… Jesus. My soul left my body. It was amazing, but I was pretty upset!
I’m not going to tag specific people, as I’m not sure who’s a TS fan. Feel free to say I tagged you if you want to do this tag & definitely link me, I’d love to see your answers!
