Current Reads + March TBR 2019

Hey Guys!
Thought I’d update on my reading. I don’t usually do posts like this but I definitely think I should do more! I never do TBR posts usually, due to the fact I feel pressured into reading those books and I’m a huge mood reader. I usually don’t pick my book until I need it.
However, this month I have a few I definitely want to pick up!

I’m currently reading/listening to three books!

Currently listening to:

City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

Cress by Marissa Meyer

Currently Reading:

The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins
(This is for a class at uni)

Onto what else I want (+have) to read this month!

For uni I have to read:

  • Mrs Warren’s Profession by Bernard Shaw (play)
  • A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Wolf
  • A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry (play)
  • The Bloody Chamber and other stories by Angela Carter
  • The Zoo Story by Edward Albee (play)

Yikes! Wish me luck…

Books for pleasure:

  • The Near Witch by V.E Schwab – I going to V.E Schwab’s book signing on Monday (SO EXCITED) So, I’m trying to read as many as her books as I can. (Plus, I was sent The Near Witch for review so I need to get on that asap!)
  • Winter by Marissa Meyer  (audiobook)- Once I finish Cress I know I’ll want to pick this up straight away. I am LOVING this series. Hopefully, the audiobook will be available when I’m done with Cress. (Fingers crossed!) This last audiobook is pretty damn long, so I don’t know if it’ll be in my March wrap up.

Considering I’ve been in a slump for months now, this TBR is quite ambitious.  Hopefully, I won’t struggle too much! Audiobooks have been my saviour, I am loving them at the moment. So convenient for me when travelling/doing uni work.

Let me know what you’re reading/planning to read, I’d love to know!

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme, GoodReads group here with all the topics + discussion!
This week’s topic is:  Favourite SFF Creatures

1) Dragons

Let’s be real: Dragons are just the best fantasy creature. Don’t@Me
/Dragon like creatures, like Wyverns. Basically from any book/tv/film. Dragons are just amazing! Abraxos from the Throne of Glass series is adorable.
My all-time favourite dragon has to be Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon!

2) Wookiees – Star Wars

Who doesn’t love Chewie?!
He’s adorable. Love him!!

3) Kandra – Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
The Kandra are such a cool and interesting creature. They are so well written and their history is just great to learn about throughout the books. Sanderson is a genius.
I freaking adore TenSoon, one of my favourite Mistborn characters!

4) Chimaera – Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

I freaking love the Chimaera Laini Taylor created! Such a cool world and concept. (No spoilers) But they’re so interesting!

5) Squirrelcat – Spellslinger by Sebastien De Castell

I never thought in a million years I fall in love with a squirrelcat but Reichis from the Spellslinger series is one of my favourite characters. He’s so funny and bloodthirsty. Live for his comments. Legendary.

What are your favourite SFF creatures? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Monthly Wrap Up | February 2019

wrap-up-2019

Hey guys!
This post is going up way later than expected. I left for London on Friday and only got home last night and didn’t want to blog on holiday so here it is today! I did mean to schedule this but I forgot. (oops!)
I’ll be posting a few London diary-kinda-thing posts soon.

Anyways.. the wrap up. Another kinda crappy reading month. I can’t seem to shake the slump or find time to read physical copies. My books read for pleasure in Feb were audiobooks, which is much more convenient for me at the moment. Let’s hope March is better! *She says hopefully*

The first book I finished was actually a play, which I had to read for a class. Oedipus by Sophocles.

43798432 Next I finish an audiobook, Twice Magic by Cressida Cowell.

I really enjoyed this! It was such a joy to listen to, especially when I was ill with the flu, it kept my spirits up!

Rating: 4 Stars

Review Coming soon!

Next, I finished another play for class, Doctor Faustus by Marlowe. I didn’t enjoy this much, definitely preferred Oedipus!

Another audiobook, Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. After listening to Cinder last month I had to continue the series and luckily didn’t have to wait long at my library for this to become available!

Rating: 4.5 Stars!
Review coming soon!

Yet another play for class, The Rover by Aphra Behn. This is probably my least favourite play I’ve read for class so far. It was pretty damn boring!
