Audiobook Review: The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

Plot: Compelling, complex and completely gripping!
Seriously, this is so well written. The writing style is beautiful, the story is basically written in riddles and was executed amazingly.
I have no idea how the author managed to execute such a complicated story on this scale, how he kept up with everything, I have no idea. The plot twists are unreal! There is no way anyone can see these coming, this book had me on the edge of my seat, I was desperate to know what happens. This is a hard story to keep track of, there’s so much back and forth you just have no idea what going on but it’s still so enjoying? I was confused and loving it. This book will really keep you guessing.
This book definitely won’t be for everyone, it can be frustrating if you cannot keep up with the back and forth plot. It requires a lot of concentration, I feel. However, I really enjoyed it. You have to have a good memory to keep track of everything going on, there are so many complex layers to this story.
If you like complex mystery/thrillers, I’d give this ago. I’d recommend going blind like I did, it makes the experience so much better, knowing nothing. I had no idea whether I was going to like it, I’d seen rave reviews/ratings for it and it happened to be available at my library on audiobook. I don’t usually read mystery, but I am glad I picked this up and now will definitely be picking up more mystery in the future. (And definitely, be picking up any other books this author comes out with!)

Characters:
This is a difficult one for characters, the constant changing of host bodies makes it confusing and difficult to be attached to a character, however, this doesn’t take anything from the story. The main character goes through eight different host bodies, his personality changes when being in each one, due to them being an influence on him.
However, his point of view is very interesting, due to his personality changes with each host body, it’s like having a few different characters.
The actual person, Aiden, does come through into each person and it makes him overall a better person.

Narrator: The narrator (Jot Davies) was really good, I like the voices he did and I thought he narrated really well. I found his voice to be soothing and engaging, I would definitely listen to more books by him!
